On Tuesday, 17 January at 9:30, we will upgrade the software used to communicate with our Hardware Security Module (HSM). A previous upgrade of this software in June 2022 caused a memory leak in our production environment (with redundant HSMs; see https://www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/archives/routing-wg/2022-June/004585.html). This issue was not present in our staging environment (with a single HSM), which means we were not able to reproduce the issue, or verify that the new software fixes the issue. We now have an upgrade path after an investigation together with our vendor.

While we expect this upgrade to proceed without issues, we may need to revert it later in the day. The expected downtime is about an hour and a half, but we have planned a two-hour window in case of possible errors.
